[Update]: It took over four years, but PUBG has now gone free-to-play on all platforms.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds launched last week alongside a new map and a whole bunch of new features like weapons, vehicles, and even the much-requested ability to vault over small obstacles. As anyone that played PUBG for any lengthy period of time could've predicted, an update of this magnitude quickly gave rise to a variety of performance issues, including things such rubber-banding, in-game lag, poor hit detection, and other such lovely bugbears.

While some of these issues still remain, you'll be glad to hear that the very 'first' PC update has just arrived with a fresh batch of fixes! If everything has gone according to plan you will find that the hit detection is no longer as wonky, and that the in-game lag has been significantly reduced. However, due to overloaded servers there will still be the occasional bit of lag and rubber-banding, problems the developers will be looking to fully correct over the coming weeks and months.

Since most of these changes are server-side the patch notes aren't exactly helpful, but if you're interested in all of the details you will them right below. That said, the only 'important' thing you really need to know is that the new map no longer has an increased chance to be selected. Here are the patch notes:

Changed the map selection ratio to be equal for Erangel and Miramar.

Adjusted replay system so that players can only view game replays from 3 minutes after death.

- This is to prevent sharing opponent’s positions to surviving teammates immediately after death.

Bug Fixes

Fixed the issue where some buildings and objects were not marked on the Miramar world map.

Reduced occurrences of the issue where replays occasionally crashed back to the lobby screen.

- On restarting a replay, it will continue where last viewed.

Fixed the issue where the beginning of the Death Cam and replay was missing.

Fixed the issue where players couldn’t earn BP.

- We will update with a compensation plan soon.

Fixed the issue where players could die unexpectedly from fall damage.

Fixed the issue where bullets couldn’t penetrate particular fences from both sides.

That's pretty much it for this update. Once more information gets released I'll make sure to keep you in the loop, but until then I wish you the best of luck with your poultry supper!
