Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair official artwork and logo

[Update]: Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair now has a free demo available on PC.

After taking a crack at a 3D collectathon, Yooka-Laylee developers are now taking things even further back by working on a 2.5D action-platformer. The upcoming Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is seemingly heavily influenced by Donkey Kong games and will feature both 2.5D levels and a 3D overworld riddled with "secrets and surprises."

Much like Yooka-Laylee itself, the Impossible Lair will have a wide variety of Tonics that can be used to change up the gameplay or simply mess around with the visuals. There are going to be more than sixty of these Tonics to unlock, so whatever your tastes might be, chances are you'll find a couple that are right up your alley.

For those of you wondering how exactly all of this looks like in gameplay terms, allow me to share with you the original reveal  trailer. Have a gander:

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will be coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this October 8th. You can learn more about it, as well as grab yourself a copy once it becomes available, over at the official website.
