While Rialto is one of my favorite maps, there is no denying the fact that attacking on it can sometimes be a bit of a nightmare. The first point is fairly manageable as there are a couple of flank routes you can take, but once you start pushing towards the second point there's simply no room to maneuver, at least no room that doesn't already contain an enemy Hanzo aiming towards your face. With that in mind, I am very happy to announce that Blizzard will soon be rebalancing the map in order to make it less defense-favored!

"In the past week, Attackers win 42.88%. We always try to balance toward a 50/50 win rate," reads the brief developer update. "We have some minor tweaks we can make to bring the map more in line. We were looking at it late last week and early this week. While it’s not perfect, it’s also not hugely out of line."

The difference in win percentage might be higher than usual, but I do agree with Blizzard here - there really is no need for major changes. All the map needs is either an additional flank route on the second point, or at least some more cover for the defenders so they aren't bombarded from all sides as they attempt to go into that tiny choke on the left. Personally, I'd prefer another flanking route as the map would really benefit from having more ways to punish snipers, but pretty much anything that makes point B just a little easier to take would be a massive improvement.

Once Blizzard reveals their plans I'll make sure to let you know what they've done, but until then I'll leave you with the original trailer for Rialto, just for old times' sake. Enjoy!
