Sombra from Overwatch looking at the camera menacingly

While Sombra has been changed time and time again, she has never really managed to find her place in the Overwatch competitive scene. With that in mind, I'm sure it won't come as much of a surprise to hear that Blizzard is currently working on rebalancing almost every aspect of Sombra's kit.

What might come as a bit of a surprise, however, is that their current iteration of Sombra includes permanent Stealth and a Translocator that does not fade away with time! The Stealth movement speed bonus has been reduced to 50% from 75% and you can no longer contest objectives while invisible, but that's pretty much the only limitation you'll have if this goes through.

"These changes started by seeing how far we could push the duration of her Stealth and Translocator abilities", reads the developer update. "As we pushed them out, it allowed her to play more and more as an scout/infiltrator for your team and also allowed her more time to pick and choose when and where she popped out to ambush her enemies."

"These changes are really interesting for her as now she is in complete control over when she reveals herself, allow her to time her hacks better for her team, or go for a back line ambush during a critical moment in a team fight."

I have absolutely no idea how these changes will pan out in actual competitive matches, but on paper they seem to be pretty darn strong. Mobility and positioning are the name of the game in Overwatch, so to have a hero with easy and secure access to every part of the map is almost guaranteed to shake things up. Let's just say that I wouldn't want to be a Zenyatta player with this new Sombra roaming around!

Once more information comes to light I'll make sure to let you know, but until then you can read a few more details over at the official forums.
