The Oculus Rift preorders will begin this Wednesday, January 6th

In a blog post that appeared on the Oculus website today the team announced that the preorders for the Rift will begin this Wednesday, January 6, at 8am PST / 11am EST / 4pm UTC.

Full details on how to preorder as well as the official price point will be announced this Wednesday once the preorders go live. But here's what we know will be coming with the Rift preorder:

- All Rift purchases will receive Lucky's Tale, a nice and colorful 3D platformer

- All Rift preorders will come with a copy of EVE: Valykrie, a very impressive space dog-fighting game built from the ground up with VR tech in mind by the guys behind EVE Online

- They have previously announced that each copy of the Rift will also come with an Xbox One controller but I don't see a single mention of it in the whole announcement. Odds are its still coming as Microsoft has a stake in the company but keep an eye out on this one just in case.

As for the Oculus Touch controllers, they have been delayed until the second half of 2016 due to the team wanting to make them as good as they can be. Which makes sense when you consider how important well done motion controls will be towards achieving immersive VR.

Finally, the Oculus founder Palmer Luckey will be holding a Reddit AMA This Wednesday, January 6, at 6pm PST / 9pm PST / 2am UTC so if you have any questions you'd like him to answer that would be the time and place.

That's it for the currently available information, once we get the full details on the preorders I'll make sure to update you. You'll find an alpha video for EVE: Valykrie below:
