Total War: Warhammer screenshot of Norsca's mammoths

After multiple weeks of teasers and previews Total War: Warhammer's long-awaited demonic vikings have now finally arrived. If you preorder or purchase Total War: Warhammer 2 within the first week of launch you will be given Norsca for free, though it can also be bought as a standalone DLC. For those of you that don't feel like spending any money, worry not as Norsca will still be a part of multiplayer and the Grand Campaign, so you'll have plenty of chances to secure yourself a genuine mammoth hide rug!

Besides the paid DLC, this update has also brought with it an absolutely gigantic list of changes, addressing pretty much all of the community complaints. For example, the Empire AI will now start with the entire Reikland province which should ensure they actually reach the end-game and become a faction as powerful as they are in the lore. Furthermore, Chaos will now replenish their forces more quickly and will be able to subjugate Norscans more easily, which should make their campaign less about constant waiting and more about constant bloodshed - just as the blood god demands it!

Many of the fairly generic Legendary Lords such as Kemmler and Karl Franz have received new skill trees and faction-wide effects to spice up the gameplay, while units such as the Minotaurs, Dwarf Cannons and Bolt Throwers got some much-deserved buffs so you might even see them in multiplayer now. The list of changes goes on for quite a while, so if you're interested in all of the specifics you will find the full patch notes over at the official website.

But wait, there's more! In celebration of their 30th anniversary Creative Assembly is also adding 30 new Regiments of Renown - powerful and unique units for the Beastmen, Bretonnia, Chaos Warriors, Norsca, and Wood Elves factions! If you're wondering what they look like, or what their improved abilities and stats are all about, you'll find what you seek over here.

This release has also been accompanied with a rather awesome cinematic trailer, and while it might not give you much information about Norsca I would still recommend giving it a look as Wulfrik is quite the badass!
