Mortal Kombat 11 has had a pretty good run since it released back in 2019, but sadly all good things must come to an end. In an extremely brief update NetherRealm Studios have now announced that they're officially done with development on Mortal Kombat 11.

"NetherRealm is now focusing on its next project and after more than two years of supporting Mortal Kombat 11, DLC for the game, including characters, has come to an end," reads the entirety of the announcement.

What exactly NetherRealm's next project will be, however, nobody outside the studio currently knows. Given their previous track record it's unlikely to be Mortal Kombat 12 as they tend to take a break between sequels. As such, my guess would be either Injustice 3 or a completely new series.

Whatever the case may be, this new project is still in its early days and so we'll likely have to wait for quite a while before we get some actual details. Once that happens, however, I'll make sure to let you know.

Until then, have fun with Mortal Kombat 11 as it's not going anywhere any time soon.
