MTG Arena artwork for the upcoming anthology card Tarmogoyf

[Update]: Both anthologies have now been revealed, and while they are a bit of a mixed bag, there's definitely some fun new cards here.

If the recent Baldur's Gate set has not shaken things up enough for you, you'll be happy to hear that MTG Arena will soon be getting even more cards! Once they arrive this July 28th, Historic Anthology 6 and Explorer Anthology 1 will bring with it 20 fan-favorite cards specifically chosen to spice up each format.

While the full list of cards has not been revealed just yet, the teasers do seem quite promising! Historic will be getting Tarmogoyf, Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Go-Shintai of Life's Origin, while Explorer will be snagging some Pioneer staples like Favored Hoplite, Supreme Verdict and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet.

Much like before, each of the anthologies will set you back 4,000 gems or 25,000 gold. Similarly, both anthologies will give you a full playset (four copies) of each card, so while the price tag is a bit high, the whole thing is definitely worth it if you're planning to use even a couple of the inclusions.

The final thing worth mentioning is that developers have announced that they will not be "rebalancing iconic cards that have a significant history behind them". So if any of these cards end up causing serious issues in the Historic format, those will most likely be resolved through bans.

Once both anthologies get fully revealed, most likely a day or two before launch, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a little bit more about MTG Arena's future over at the official website.
