Innistrad Crimson Vow artwork for Olivia

[Update #2]: MTG Arena's cyberpunk themed Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty will be landing on February 10, 2022.

[Update]: MTG Arena's January update has now brought with it the Double Feature draft, as well as a whole bunch of bans and Alchemy-based balance changes.

If you're looking for something to help pass the time before Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty arrives in February, you might be interested to hear that the Innistrad Double Feature draft is set to launch on January 28th. As the name would imply, the Innistrad Double Feature draft will combine the werewolf-heavy Midnight Hunt set with the more vampire focused Crimson Vow for a bit of a unique draft experience.

Packs will contains one rare from each set (so two rares total), as well as an assortment of random cards from both sets. Considering how there is a great degree of synergy between some of the limited mechanics, especially with things like Blood tokens and Flashback cards, this should be a fairly high powered format and hopefully a much more balanced draft environment than either individual set.

As a little bonus, every entry to the Double Feature draft will also come with a Dracula card style. There are a total of seventeen of these styles available, and while you can't get duplicates I still wouldn't recommend trying to hunt down a specific one as you'll likely waste far, far too much in-game currency in the process. It's probably best to consider them as just a nifty bonus.

When it comes to the other rewards, the Double Feature draft will be a bit more top-heavy than usual. An entry will cost the same as Premier Draft (10,000 gold or 1,500 gems), while the break-even point will be set at five wins. On the positive side, if you do manage to get to seven wins, you'll be granted a hefty 2,500 gems in return.

So much like the various Cube drafts and special events, the Double Feature draft is not something you should dive into expecting massive returns. Treat it instead as a fun little distraction, or simply watch some runs on Youtube while you save coins for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. Whatever your choice may be, I hope you have fun with it.

Once the event goes live I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a little bit more about the Double Feature draft, as well as other upcoming events, over at the MTG website.
