Mortal Kombat 11 is set to arrive in about six weeks, and in order to give people a taste of what is to come, NetherRealm Studios have now launched a free weekend for Mortal Kombat X. So if you're curious about what exactly the Mortal Kombat series has to offer, as well as how ridiculously over-the-top the fatalities are, you should head on over to Steam and give it a try.

The one catch is that the free weekend will only last for a little over two days, so do make sure to start the download as quickly as possible if you want to get a decent amount of playtime in. As for what exactly the gameplay is like, here's one of the original trailers to help you figure it out:

On the other hand, if you're wondering whether Mortal Kombat X is even worth your time, I'm afraid I'm the wrong person to ask as I'm just not into fighting games. That said, I did have a pretty good time messing around with the story mode and the various characters, so while I can't tell you what the balance or the 1v1 competitive mode is like, I would recommend at least checking out the singleplayer. After all, it is entirely free for the time being!

You can learn more about Mortal Kombat X, as well as give it a try yourself, by hopping over to Steam. Have fun!
