Mighty No. 9 will be released on June 21

Despite gathering over 4,000,000 dollars in its Kickstarter campaign Mighty No. 9 has become the poster-child for troubled development. It underwent numerous delays, the playable demos showed very little improvement between iterations, and the company's community interaction was nonexistent at best.

However, after surviving through all of that Mighty No. 9 has finally gone gold, and the release date has been nailed, stapled, and seared on the calendar for June 21st for North America and Asia, with the rest of the world getting it on June 24th. Here's one of the recent trailers, just ignore the whole 'totally releasing in February 9' business:

The portable versions for the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS will be arriving at a later point, but to the developer's credit this delayed release was announced relatively early on, and unlike the staggered launch actually makes sense since portable versions require significant development time to complete.

I'm sure you probably already noticed this, but I have very little hope that Mighty No. 9 will be anything but mediocre, and worst of all, a gigantic disappointment to anyone that spent the past couple of years waiting for a brand new Mega Man game. The action seems slow, the mechanics sluggish, and the visual style is mostly emotionless... not the best formula for an action orientated game.

All I can really say is that for once I actually wish to be completely and utterly wrong, and that Mighty No. 9 ends up being the game we've all been waiting for, rather than one that justifies everyone's fear of Kickstarter projects.
