After being exclusively available on Japanese consoles for a couple of months, the turn-based JRPG Monark has now arrived to the West for both PC and consoles. In terms of story, Monark brings with it a world trapped under a veil of madness, in which you and an assortment of characters teetering on the brink of insanity will need to face off against untold demons in order to hopefully break free before you inevitably slip away.

On the gameplay side of things, Monark is far more conventional. As such, expect to spend most of your time interacting with the various characters in the relatively safe real world, and going on expeditions into the mist beyond in order to figure out just what in the world is even happening. What this looks like in action, however, that you can find out through the recently posted launch trailer:

If all of this looks like something you'd love to sink your teeth into, it's well worth mentioning that Monark is an interesting though deeply flawed game. The actual combat is solid enough and the story is quite unique, but there is sadly a noticeable lack of polish in its various systems, while the amount of grinding necessary to progress might be far more than what most people are comfortable with. So if you're planning to dive into Monark, it would be a wise idea to do a fair bit of research before doing so, just to be on the safe side.

You can do so, as well as read a little bit more about Monark's world, over at Steam. Enjoy!
