Legends of Runeterra artwork of a character giving you a hand

In an effort to toy around with new gameplay ideas and unproven concepts, Legends of Runeterra devs have launched the Experimental Lab - a game mode with constantly changing and often wacky rulesets. While some of the previous Labs were remarkably fun to mess around with, this latest one is by far the most exciting as it brings with it the very first co-op mode!

Once you launch the co-op mode, you and your partner will need to select one of the predetermined Champions, each of which will feature a unique deck. More importantly, these decks will have a variety of new and co-op exclusive cards that can drastically change the course of battle, so the whole experience should be quite different from the usual one-on-one duels.

Your enemies will not be slacking off either, as each of the three Noxus commanders (Darius, Draven or Swain) will have their very own unique cards to help spice everything up even further. In order to succeed you'll need to coordinate through the use of newly introduced emotes, buff and pass cards between each other, and ideally, work towards a shared strategy rather than two entirely separate ones. Should be pretty fun!

Naturally, if this co-op game mode ends up being a success, I think it's safe to say we'll be seeing even more co-op experiments in the future. Who knows, we might even end up with a fully fledged co-op mode somewhere down the line!

Whatever the case may be, you can read a little bit more about this newly introduced co-op mode, as well as check out a few examples of what it looks like in action, over at the official website. Have fun!
