Diablo 3's incarnation of Diablo fighting an angel

After the success of the animated Castlevania series, it would appear that Netflix is now once again looking to expand its repertoire with a video game adaptation. Nothing has been confirmed just yet, but the Hellboy writer and Boom Studios founder Andrew Cosby recently tweeted (and subsequently deleted) that he's in the final talks for a Diablo animated series.

“I guess I can confirm I am indeed in final talks to write and show-run the new Diablo animated series for Activision and Netflix,” reads the by now deleted tweet. “It’s very exciting and I hope to the High Heavens it all works out.”

While this could be nothing more than a simple rumor, I do actually believe it's completely true as Blizzard has recently announced that they are working on multiple Diablo projects. And now with Blizzcon right around the corner, what better time is there to reveal a potential Diablo 4 alongside its animated spin-off series? The timing is just too perfect, I'm sure you'll agree.

However, as exited as I might be for a Diablo animated series, all of this is currently based on speculation and rumors. So if you ask me, I would honestly recommend being cautiously optimistic as even if the show was confirmed this very moment, we would still have no guarantee it would ever come out, let alone that it would be any good. A bit of a pessimistic outlook, sure, but I'd argue it's much better to be pleasantly surprised than crushingly disappointed with these things.

My little musings aside, once Netflix or Blizzard release more information I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, I'll leave you with one of my favorite cinematics from Diablo 3, just to give you a taste of what might be to come. Enjoy!
