Heavy Metal themed rhythm shooter Metal: Hellsinger artwork

In a bit of an unusual, though certainly not unwelcome departure from the norm, the freshly released Metal: Hellsinger is a curious combination of heavy metal, a rhythm game and a Doom-style FPS! The most exciting thing about it all is the simple fact that the music adapts to your gameplay. The more in sync you are with the rhythm, the more intense and aggressive the music will get, and the more devastation you'll be able to cause. So in a way it's kind of like of like Guitar Hero, just with more exploding demons!

What all of this nonsense looks like in actual gameplay, and more importantly what it sounds like, that you can check out through the launch trailer below. Have a gander, it's quite the experience:

As for the soundtrack itself, it has been specifically made for Metal: Hellsinger in collaboration with singers from a variety of bands like Dark Tranquility, System of a Down and Trivium. It's not going to be for everyone, death metal rarely is after all, but I found it to be a pretty fun soundtrack overall.

The final and most important thing to mention is that Metal: Hellsinger has a free demo available. So if you're not sure where exactly you stand on the whole rhythm-based FPS thing, I'd highly recommend giving it a look.

You can do so, as well as learn more about Metal: Hellsinger, over at Steam. Enjoy!
