Hearthstone artwork for the C'thun card from the upcoming Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion

[Update]: Hearthstone's Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion has landed alongside a few problems.

While Hearthstone's recent Scholomance Academy expansion simply offered more of the usual, the upcoming Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion will really shake things up, and not just because the Old Gods are involved! Not only will the Darkmoon Faire bring in a boatload of new cards, but it will also greatly revamp the progression and reward systems, as well as add a brand new game mode.

The new Duels game mode will combine the deck-building and power progression elements of a Dungeon Run with fierce player vs player action. In Duels you'll choose a hero, a hero power, a signature treasure and then build a 15-card starter deck from your own collection, after which you'll face off against a series of opponents. Between each match you'll be able to greatly enhance your deck by adding minions, spells or treasures, which should make the whole thing highly replayable and hopefully highly enjoyable as well.

When it comes to the rewards and account progression, you can expect to see some rather drastic changes. Once the Darkmoon Faire expansion arrives you will have access to both daily and weekly quests, a brand new battle pass system with a free and paid component, all sorts of new achievements, a better and more in-depth profile page, and naturally, a massive assortment of new cosmetics to work towards - including fancy coins!

Naturally, the Darkmoon Faire expansion will also be accompanied by a large batch of new cards, 135 in total. These will include improved variants of the Old Gods many have come to love (or hate) over the years, as well as a brand new keyword - Corrupt. Cards with the Corrupt keyword will upgrade in your hand after you play a higher cost card, which should incentivize a slower and more methodical playstyle over simply going for the face. That's the hope anyway!

What will actually happen once players get their hands on all of the new cards, I suppose we'll find out soon enough as the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion will be launching on November 17, 2020. Once it goes live I'll make sure to let you know, but until then I'll leave you with the rather lovely (and musical) trailer. Enjoy!
