Gwent official artwork and logo for the Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales campaign

Gwent's story-focused singleplayer campaign Thronebreaker was originally supposed to arrive last year, but due to some unfortunate development issues it ended up getting delayed time and time again. Thankfully, the wait is now well and truly over as the newly rebranded Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales will be unleashed this October 23rd for PC, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version will follow on December 4th.

I won't go into any specifics in order to avoid potential spoilers, but what I can tell you is that Thronebreaker's story will follow the warrior-queen Meve as she is forced to go on a warpath due to the imminent Nilfgaardian invasion and dissent from within. Expect to see mature storytelling in the vein of The Witcher 3, as well as plenty of exploration, unique puzzles, and brand new card mechanics to toy around with. CDPR has been working on this one for quite a while, so they really have packed in pretty much everything that could fit!

While the recently posted story teaser won't show you any of the gameplay, it will at least give you an idea of the sort of visuals you can expect from Gwent's Thronebreaker campaign, as well as some hints for where the story is heading towards. Have a gander:

Besides the Thronebreaker singleplayer campaign, Gwent will also be undergoing a complete and utter redesign on October 23rd. The UI will be greatly improved, pretty much all of the cards will be either rebalanced or changed entirely, one of iconic rows from the board will be going away to make room for bigger cards and more interesting effects, and the list goes on for quite a while.

To learn more about these changes, or just give the current version of Gwent one more try, you should head on over to the official website. And just for good measure, I'll leave you with the recent reveal for the above-mentioned Homecoming update. Enjoy!
