Guild Wars 2's Path of Fire expansion is set to arrive this September, bringing with it a whole boatload of content. You'll be able to explore the Crystal Desert and the adjoining kingdom of Elona, fight against the Human god of war Balthazar and his minions, mess around with nine new elite specializations, acquire mounts that all come with unique effects and abilities, and the list goes on for quite a while.

If all of this sounds like something you might be interested in, but perhaps not interested enough to purchase on blind faith alone, you'll be glad to hear that there is a free preview event running this weekend. Simply create a new Guild Wars 2 beta character on the Character Select screen, and you'll be exploring bits and pieces of the Crystal Desert in no time! Its important to mention that this offer also extends to people playing the free-to-play version of Guild Wars 2, so no matter if you're a veteran or a completely new player you'll be able to experience pretty much everything Path of Fire has to offer.

I'll release a proper preview once I've put in a couple more hours, but so far I must say I'm quite impressed with what ArenaNet has done. The new zone is rather beautiful and fun to explore, while the mounts might just be the best implementation of the system I've seen so far, with a special mention going towards the detailed animations! So if you have even an inkling of an interest in Guild Wars 2 or MMOs in general, I would recommend you give it a look - its completely free after all!
