[Update]: Steelrising has now been unleashed, and so far it looks like it's as entertaining as it's buggy.

After tackling the themes of colonialism with Greedfall, studio Spiders is now planning to do the same with revolution and liberty through the upcoming Steelrising. However, given that this is Spiders we're talking about, their take on the French Revolution is a... little bit out of the ordinary.

"King Louis XVI's automata army is terrorising the citizens of Paris," reads the brief description. "Join the Revolution as Aegis and fight against this reign of terror to try and change the course of history!"

While there is sadly no gameplay footage available just yet, you can get a pretty good impression of what Steelrising is going for through the recently posted teaser trailer. Have a gander, it's quite an interesting one:

I'd love to tell you more, but I'm afraid that's pretty much it as far as this announcement goes. The only other thing I can tell you is that Steelrising will be coming to PC and the next generation of consoles.
