After going through a rather lengthy delay, the co-op focused Batman spin-off Gotham Knights has recently been pinned for an October 25th, 2022 release date. I can only hope that's going to be enough time to get everything polished up and ready to go, because if the latest gameplay preview is any judge, there's still a lot of work to be done!

Before I babble on, however, allow me to share with you the freshly posted Nightwing and Red Hood gameplay demo. It showcases some serious flaws, there is no denying that, but there's a lot of good stuff in here as well. Have a peek:

I'm honestly not sure what to think. On one hand the atmosphere seems excellent, and I'd love a chance to roam around Gotham and just soak it all in. On the other hand, the actual combat looks kind of clunky with animations not lining up properly and enemies spending far too much time standing around waiting to get punched. Whether this is due to the demo being played on a lower difficulty or something else entirely, I do hope the full version will be a lot more dynamic.

Ironically enough, I'm also worried about about every character having the ability to essentially fly across the city at high speed. While nice and convenient for chaining one mission after another, it does unfortunately make exploring the city itself a bit of an afterthought. Considering how much effort has gone into making Gotham feel like a lived-in place, being able to comically hop across it just feels like a waste of potential.

That said, there's still a fair bit of time before Gotham Knight's October release date. With a bit of luck these issues could get sorted out by then so we can all focus on what's truly important - chucking baddies off rooftops! Non-lethally, of course!

Whatever the future may bring, you can learn more about Gotham Knights, as well as keep an eye on any upcoming previews, over at the official website. Enjoy!
