Ravenbound open-world action-roguelike with Souls-like elements artwork and logo

[Update]: Ravenbound will be heading into Closed Beta on September 29th, and the whole test will run until October 13th.

After spending a fair few years pitting players against murderous robots, Generation Zero studio Systemic Reaction is now working on something a little bit different. The freshly announced Ravenbound will be a challenging open world action-roguelite set in an universe heavily inspired by Norse mythology.

While the combat will be done in Souls-like fashion with plenty of dodging and timing when to attack the significantly stronger enemies, the actual character progression will be done through the use of cards. Each time your character dies you'll be able to expand your deck by selecting a powerful piece of gear, a new magic spell or whatever else tickles your fancy. As such, each new character will be slightly better prepared to tackle the many challenges... provided they live long enough to draw the cards and unlock their powers anyway!

As for what exactly Ravenbound looks like in action, that you can find out through the announcement trailer below. Have a gander:

No release date has been given so far, not even an estimate. The only things I can really tell you for certain is that Ravenbound will be launching onto PC via Steam, and that there will be a closed beta at some point in the future.

You can sign up for said beta, as well as learn a tiny bit more about Ravenbound, over at the official website. Enjoy, and good luck with the eventual beta access!
