[Update]: Forspoken has now arrived with a free demo and an outrageous price tag.

After going through a lengthy delay, Square Enix's exploration focused action-adventure Forspoken will finally be launching onto PC and consoles this January 24th, 2023. If you're now curious about what sort of PC you'll need in order to run it smoothly, you'll be happy to hear that the Forspoken team has just released the various PC system requirements and their expected performance.

However, as you'll quickly see, there is a little bit of a problem here. The minimum and recommended system requirements are both targeting 30fps, while the most common 1080p/60fps combo isn't listed at all. While this could just be a strange set of presets and nothing else, I'm somewhat worried this might mean that Forspoken is going to be another in a long line of poorly optimized PC games.

But enough of my babbling, here are the various PC system requirements and the types of performance they're targeting:

Minimum (720p, 30fps)

OS: Windows 10 64-bit (After November 2019 update) or Windows 11 64-bit
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (3.7 Ghz) or Intel Core i7-3770 (3.7 Ghz)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB VRAM
RAM: 16GB
Storage: HDD 150GB

Recommended (1440p, 30fps)

OS: Windows 10 64-bit (After November 2019 update) or Windows 11 64-bit
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (3.7 Ghz) or Intel Core i7-8700K (3.7 Ghz)
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 8GB VRAM
RAM: 24GB
Storage: SDD 150GB

Ultra (2160p, 60fps)

OS: Windows 10 64-bit (After November 2019 update) or Windows 11 64-bit
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5800X (3.8 Ghz) or Intel Core i7-12700K
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 16GB VRAM
RAM: 32GB
Storage: NvMe SDD 150GB
