[Update #2]: Evil Genius 2 and its megalomaniacal schemes will be arriving this March 30, 2021.

[Update]: Evil Genius 2's newest preview shows off Red Ivan's take on world domination.

If you were hoping for Evil Genius 2 to release at some point during this holiday season, I'm afraid I bring some bad news. Due to the pandemic slowing everything down, Rebellion has decided to push the release date of Evil Genius 2 back to 2021 in order to ensure it launches in as polished of a state as possible.

"We want to deliver a sequel that will do justice to the franchise and be loved and played by the Evil Genius community for years to come, just like the original," reads the brief update. "And while we know many of you will be disappointed to wait a little longer, launching next year affords us the time to do precisely that."

"One of the things we most prize about Rebellion is our independence, which allows us the freedom to do what's right for our games and our staff. We'll announce a final release date as soon as we can. Expect an update sooner rather than later."

While it does suck having to wait a few more months, it's definitely still better than the alternative. After all, there's nothing really fun about playing a game that's obviously unfinished and unpolished, constantly wondering about just what could've been if it had more time. So here's to hoping Rebellion uses the next few months wisely and delivers a sequel worthy of the original!

You can keep an eye on Evil Genius 2 by heading over to the official website, and just for good measure, I'll leave you with one of the recent overview trailers. Enjoy!
