EVE: Valykrie's Carrier Assault game mode

EVE: Valkyrie, one of the most feature-rich VR games out there, has been expanded with its first free content update - Carrier Assault. As you can probably guess from the name, in the Carrier Assault game mode you will be required to coordinate with your fellow players in order to cripple a gigantic Carrier, and eventually blow up its core by doing the equivalent of the famous Star Wars trench run, but this time in VR!

If you're wondering what all of this looks like in action, here's the recently posted launch trailer. It unfortunately won't give you the same sense of scale and speed as a VR device, but I think blowing up huge ships is a universally awesome thing anyway:

The assault on the Carrier takes place in three stages. During the first you will need to occupy at least two of the three relay stations in order to power-down the Carrier's shields, after which you can start to engage it directly. Since you unfortunately aren't packing enough firepower to pierce the damn thing's armor, you will instead need to focus on destroying cooling nodes scattered across the surface, avoiding the defense turrets and enemies along the way.

With the Carrier's shielding and firepower crippled, you will then need to overload its core. How do you overload the core? By doing an absurdly dangerous (and awesome) trench run, of course, after which the entire thing will light up like a Christmas candle and scatter into a billion tiny pieces.

This update also brought with it a new map and a rather sizable list of changes, so if you're interested in all of the details I would suggest you head over to the official dev blog.
