[Update #2]: Doom Eternal's Update 6.66 has added Horde Mode, new Master levels and Battlemode 2.0.

[Update]: Doom Eternal is shifting development from the PvP Invasion mode to the single-player Horde mode.

If you're a fan of the Doom Slayer and the modern Doom games as a whole, I'm afraid I bring some bittersweet news. The good thing is that the final campaign expansion for Doom Eternal, The Ancient Gods – Part Two, has now been unleashed alongside a bunch of new demon-infested content!

Expect to see three sizable new campaign maps to explore and battle across, a ridiculously massive Sentinel Hammer melee weapon to bonk demons with, a whole assortment of new enemy varieties, and to ensure things end with a bang, a climactic boss fight against a very Warhammer 40k looking Dark Lord. As for what exactly all of this looks like in action, that you can find out through the recently posted launch trailer. Have a peek:

Unfortunately, as awesome as all of this is, it also marks the end of the Doom Slayer's saga. In other words, not only is this the final campaign for Doom Eternal, but also the last time we'll see the Doom Slayer for quite a while. He obviously won't be going away for good, but it looks like id Software is looking to do something a little bit different for their next game so the Doom Slayer will be taking a much deserved vacation.

What exactly that next game might be, however, only time will tell. Until then, enjoy The Ancient Gods – Part Two, and if you're interested in learning more, you should hop on over to Steam.
