Divinity: Original Sin 2 official artwork showing the main cast

As I've mentioned in my review, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a pretty darn good game, so good in fact that I called it "one of the best RPGs I have played in quite a few years." While I continue to stand by all of that, even I have to admit that Divinity: Original Sin 2 has quite a few little annoyances sprinkled throughout its lengthy campaign, especially once you start heading towards the end-game.

With that in mind, I am now very glad to announce that much like its predecessor, Divinity: Original Sin 2 will be getting a Definitive Edition! The exact release date hasn't been revealed just yet, but you can expect to see it this August with a whole bunch of improvements in tow. I'm talking about things such as extensive dialogue rewrites, greatly improved quests and characters, a redesigned journal, a brand new party-wide inventory option, as well as the much-requested ability to mark stuff on the map.

There will also be a brand new and greatly improved tutorial, a new Story difficulty that simplifies the combat and lets you explore the world at your leisure,  and even updates to the PvP portion of the game. And just to fill out the quota for wacky animal-related nonsense, the Enhanced Edition will also bring with it "Sir Lorna the Squirrel" DLC - a tale of a squirrel struggling with an existential crisis, because of course it is.

Perhaps most importantly of all, owners of Divinity: Original Sin 2 on PC will receive the Enhanced Edition as a free upgrade! It's currently unknown whether your save files will be able to carry over between the two versions, but for the low, low price of free I honestly don't see much of a reason to complain either way.

Once more information gets released I'll make sure to let you know, but until then I'll leave you with the latest developer video. It's quite an... interesting one, that's for sure. Enjoy!
