After going through nearly a decade of development hell which even saw the game change studios mid way through, Dead Island 2 has now finally been unleashed for both PC and consoles. The most shocking thing, however, is that it's actually quite decent!

It's not a high-brow game by any stretch, and you can definitely feel the decade long development drag it down at times, but smashing zombies over the head with an assortment of silly weapons is, unsurprisingly, a good bit of fun! Just don't expect much from the story because oh boy, it sure is a giant mess.

What all of this nonsense looks like in action, however, that you can check out through the lengthy gameplay preview below. Have a gander, it should clue you in quite quickly on just what Dead Island 2 is like:

Personally, I'd wait for a bit of a discount before diving in since the action does get repetitive after a while. With a bit of luck the expansions and updates should sort that out since the core gameplay offers a solid foundation to build upon, though obviously that process is likely going to take a while. In other words, if you're planning to start playing right away do be prepared to forgive a bit of jankiness!

Whatever your plans may be, you can learn more about Dead Island 2, as well as keep track of any updates, over at the official website. Enjoy the madness!
