Dead Island Definitive Collection is bringing high def zombies

[Update]: Dead Island 2 is not only alive, but it's also finally launching on February 3rd, 2023 for PC and consoles!

Dead Island, the game with quite possibly the best and most misleading trailer I've ever seen, is soon getting the remaster treatment, which unfortunately won't cure the endless sewer level, but it sure will make it a lot prettier.

Along with the updated version of the original game, the Dead Island Definitive Collection is also bundling in the remastered version of Dead Island: Riptide, and Dead Island Retro Revenge. Here's the trailer showcasing the new lighting and graphics in action:

According to the official website, the remastered versions will bring high resolution textures, photo-realistic lighting, physically based shading, improved model quality for objects and geometry assets, support for HBAO and the dreaded motion blur effects, and an update to the UI so it remains consistent between Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide.

The Dead Island Definitive Collection will be arriving to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 31st at a $40 price tag.

Whether its worth it or not, that will all depend on how much you enjoy visceral melee combat over such frivolous things as interesting characters, story, and level design. If you're just in it to bash zombies over the head with an electrified baseball bat, then by all means, dive in.
