The asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight will be celebrating its second anniversary this June. In order to commemorate the occasion, as well as ensure the third year is even more successful, the developers are planning a whole host of new features and extra content for 2018.
While their exact release dates are still shrouded in mist, you can expect to see 4 new survivors, killers and maps, as well as a new progression system to help you unlock them in a much simpler and quicker fashion. There will also be cosmetic items you can purchase with real money or simply earn in-game by playing. The current plan is for this system to extend to all survivors and killers, though there might be some limitations on DLC characters due to licensing deals.
In order to make Dead by Daylight a better place for all players the developers will also be adding a new anti-cheat measure, improved tools for handling toxicity, as well as a reworked ranking system that rewards all styles of play. Perhaps most importantly, at least for new players anyway, there will also be a comprehensive tutorial that explains all of the basic tricks and strategies.
Besides new content, the developers are also planning to trial new features and changes on PC test servers, and then push them to all platforms once they feel ready. This should greatly increase the quality of updates, and hopefully reduce the amount of annoying bugs that make it through. On a similar note, the developers have announced that they will be doing dedicated mid-chapter patches in order to bring quality of life improvements, balance changes, and bug fixes whenever needed.
There's a few other minor bits and pieces I haven't mentioned, so if you're interested in all of the details you'll find what you seek in the latest developer video down below. Enjoy!
