Warhammer 40k: Darktide official artwork for The Traitor Curse update

[Update #2]: Darktide devs are aiming to rework the Crafting and Achievement systems, as well as add new Content throughout 2024.

[Update]: The second part of the Anniversary update has now arrived and, unsurprisingly, it's quite good!

It's only been a short while since Patch #15 arrived, and already the Darktide team is planning a new batch of content to mess around with. Once it arrives at some point in early to mid December, The Traitor Curse - Part 2 update will bring with it four new consumable items, new weapon variants, a brand new map, yet another rework of the Veteran's skill tree, as well as a time-limited boss fight against the Karnak Twins showcased during the last update.

First and foremost, let's talk about the four new consumable Stimms. While the details are still few and far between, it appear that they're going to be slightly tweaked versions of Vermintide 2's potions. In other words, you'll be able to use them to either heal, boost damage, increase speed or hasten cooldown reduction, with the downside being that they'll most likely take up a valuable inventory slot. They might not sound like a big deal now, but given how useful they proved themselves to be in Vermintide 2, I'm sure they'll be invaluable in Darktide as well.

As for the weapons, they'll all be variations of the stuff we already have. Once again the details are few and far between, but what I can tell you is that there will be a new Revolver with a rapid fire fan-the-hammer mode, a foldable Shovel which I can't even imagine the purpose of, as well as what is likely to be a finesse focused Chainaxe.

The new map, Warren 6-19, will unsurprisingly take place in the recently introduced Carnival zone. Little is known about it just yet, but it looks like we'll be taking down whatever facility is producing the tainted stims, as well as learning a little bit more about the people aboard The Mourningstar.

What the new map looks like in action, that you can get a little sneak peek at through the teaser trailer below. Have a gander:

As a part of a time-limited event, the big baddie's main henchmen, the Karnak Twins, will be ambushing players all across Tertium. Whether we'll need to opt into this or if they'll serve as randomly appearing boss fights, similar to something like Deep Rock Galactic's encounters, I'm afraid I have no idea. Either way, I hope they become a permanent fixture as Darktide sure could use more bosses for us to slap around.

Given its currently messy state, it probably won't come as much of a shock to hear that Patch #16 will once again rework the Veteran's skill tree. The plan this time around will be to condense the number of perks and make it so reaching the bottom keystones is less taxing. Personally, I hope they also do something about the ammo aura as it's so ridiculously strong it invalidates a good chunk of the Veteran's upper skill tree.

The good news doesn't end there, however, as Patch #16 will also bring with it a mystery addition. What exactly that's going to be, nobody outside of Fatshark currently knows, but I have a feeling it's going to have something to do with Explicator Zola's sudden disappearance.

Whatever the case may be, I'll make sure to let you know once Fatshark finally spills the beans. Until then, I'll leave you with the latest, lore-based vox transmission. Enjoy!
