[Update #2]: Darktide's Patch 1.02 has now brought in a bunch of small but meaningful balance tweaks, fixes and improvements.

[Update]: Warhammer 40,000: Darktide studio Fatshark are suspending new content, microtransactions and the Xbox version in order to focus on much-needed fixes.

As you've most likely realized yourself, not all weapons in Darktide are created equal. While some like the Veteran's power sword are capable of cleaving through entire hordes without a single issue, others have to expend a considerable amount of time and effort in order to kill even a single poxwalker. So in order to sort this problem out, as well as add some more content for everyone to play around with, Fatshark team has now unleashed Patch 1.0.20.

The highlights include a brand new map by the name of The Signal, as well as a fancy new power maul for the Ogryn and Zealot that literally makes people explode when you charge it up! Whether they're actually good or not, that still remains to be seen, but I can't deny that I've had a lot of fun experimenting with the Zealot's two-handed variant.

The power mauls look unassuming, but they sure do pack a punch!

You can also look forward to the ability to re-roll perks on your weapons and curios. This new system is a fairly cheap and reliable way of getting the exact perk you want, though there is a bit of a catch. When you start re-rolling one of your perks all of the other ones will become locked forever, so make sure to choose wisely! Personally I would recommend only re-rolling orange quality items, especially in regards to curios, as this way you'll be able to easily figure out which is your weakest perk and what you want the item to actually do.

Patch 1.0.20 has also added private lobbies, though with a small restriction. Basically, you can only create private lobbies if you're in a group with at least one other player. Solo play will also become available at some point in the future, though when exactly that will happen, I'm afraid I don't know.

The final thing worth mentioning are the various balance changes which include small nerfs to the power sword, as well as a whole bunch of buffs for otherwise mediocre weapons like the heavy swords, headhunter autoguns and lucius pattern lasguns. You can find all of the details over at the Steam.

Actually, there's one more thing you might be interested in. It's a small change in the grand scheme of things, but it'll definitely save you a bit of sanity if you're still struggling with crashes. There's now an option in the interface section of the settings to automatically skip the intro, so you can now simply mash space in order to get to the actual game!

Once the next big update goes live, most likely next year given that the holiday season is upon us, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, I'll leave you with a very brief trailer showing off some of the new additions:
