Darkest Dungeon The Crimson Court official artwork

Darkest Dungeon is a great game, but even with mods included there is only so many times you can replay the same types of dungeons before you're simply done. As such, I am very glad to say that the developers have just announced that The Crimson Court, Darkest Dungeon's very first expansion, is set to arrive on June 19th at a rather low $10 price tag.

The Crimson Court will bring with it a new hero class, a new wandering boss, a new dungeon region with a full faction of new foes to square off against, a bunch of new bosses and ginormous maps to mess around with, and even permanent additions for your estate. The new content is definitely welcome, but I must admit I am most excited about the permanent buildings we can unlock. Darkest Dungeon is a challenging game by design, and that is something I can certainly appreciate, but I always felt like there needed to be some rewards for players that managed to achieve greatness, only to die shortly after. And if these permanent buildings end up being minor bonuses we can unlock by completing difficult challenges, then that is exactly what Darkest Dungeon needs to keep players coming back for more punishment.

With the expansion still a ways away there is unfortunately very little in terms of concrete information, but if you would like to learn more you can head over to either Steam or the official website. And as a final note, here's a couple of images showing the new content:
