Dark Souls Remastered official artwork with logo

The original Dark Souls is without a single doubt my favorite game of all time. It has its flaws and it's obvious the final portions of the game were rushed in order to meet the release date, but the world and its characters are so interesting and peculiar that I think they're going to be stuck in my head forever.

With that in mind, I hope you can now understand just how happy I am to say that Dark Souls will be getting a Remastered Edition! While it doesn't appear that Dark Souls Remastered will bring with it anything other than improvements to graphics and performance, it's still going to be worth checking out given that it'll release on every platform, including the portable Nintendo Switch!

Soon you're going to be able to get destroyed on the go as well!

Since this is probably going to be the very first introduction to the Souls series for some of you, allow me to just say that Dark Souls is not as hard as people would lead you to believe. It's definitely punishing and you're going to die a lot, but it's nothing that can't be overcome with a little bit of perseverance and clever observation. There are basically no cheap deaths in the entire game, so if you take things nice and easy you'll find yourself twisting each trap against your enemies, and that right there is the true brilliance of Dark Souls: it punishes both you and your enemies in equal measure!

If you're interested in learning a little bit more about why you should try Dark Souls, head on over to a mini-review I did a little while back. It should get you up to speed on the series in general and why exactly people praise it to high heavens.

As for Dark Souls Remastered, you can expect to see it arrive on PC and consoles this May 25th. There aren't that many details available right now, but you can learn a bit more by heading over to the official website. And finally, here's the announcement trailer, just for good measure. Enjoy!
