In a massive contrast to the rest of the gaming industry, the Souls series has only ever received sparse amounts of DLC, but they were all of such high quality that I doubt anyone would complain if FromSoftware released more. Even now, despite Dark Souls 3 being a truly amazing game, I consider the Dark Souls 2 DLC pack as the very best example of Dark Souls gameplay.

With that in mind, I have some great news to share - Dark Souls 3's Ashes of Ariandel DLC is coming on October 25th! If you're interested in a bit of a sneak peek at some of the bosses and locations you're going to be dying at, here's the recently posted trailer:

Before you start worrying about FromSoftware recycling bosses, allow me to just say that the previous DLC trailers also featured "main game" bosses as well. While I don't know if they have any specific lore relevance to the new DLC areas, my guess is that they are in there to add a bit of action without spoiling all of the DLC bosses months beforehand.

Since this is Dark Souls we're talking about, its currently unknown what the DLC will bring in exactly, but FromSoftware has mentioned it will contain new areas, weapons, enemies, bosses, armor sets, magic spells, and more. In other words, pretty much everything you've come to expect from Dark Souls 3, but just more of it!

Once Ashes of Ariandel arrives on October 25th it will set you back €15/$15, but if you are so inclined you can pre-purchase the Season Pass and receive both upcoming DLCs at a slightly discounted €25/$25 total. And finally, here are a couple of images that came with this announcement:
