If you're in the mood for a survival and crafting focused experience, you might want to give Team17's newly launched The Survivalists a closer look. As the name would suggest, The Survivalists is a survival sandbox game where you'll need to explore a strange land, scavenge for resources, craft a variety of gizmos to make life easier, and mostly just make a mess of things with your monkey posse.

As for whether The Survivalists is actually good, that is where opinions get very divided, very quickly. To put it simply, it currently has a 50% review score on Steam, with most of the reviews either praising it due to the premise or damning it because of the somewhat clunky controls.

Where exactly the truth lies, I'm afraid I don't know, but the good news is that you don't have to jump into The Survivalists completely blind. What I'm trying to say is that there is a free demo available, so if you're even remotely curious, I'd recommend giving it a try and then deciding on a course of action afterwards.
