Code Vein is Bandai Namco's upcoming action-RPG that appears to be heavily influenced by the Dark Souls series, both in terms of mechanics and visuals. The combat is all about positioning and timing, dodging through enemy blows and striking only when the opportunity presents itself, while the world and its inhabitants are about as dark and twisted as you would expect given the Souls influence.

If you're wondering what exactly this might look like in gameplay, or if I'm just exaggerating the Dark Souls/Bloodborne connection, you'll find the recently posted combat video right below. Have a look, its only two minutes long:

While some people might have issues with Bandai Namco essentially adding their twist to the Dark Souls gameplay formula, I must admit I'm excited to see what other people can do with the genre. This goes doubly so now that they've finally revealed some proper gameplay as it genuinely looks good, especially for a game that is still under heavy development. The sword sounds need to be improved and the monsters definitely need to be more mobile, but other than that this is a solid foundation for an action-RPG!

If you share my sort of interest you can find out more about Code Vein by heading over to the Bandai Namco Website, though I'm afraid not much is available just yet. As for the release date, you can expect to see Code Vein on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2018, though once again, not much else is known. And finally, here's a few of the newly released images from 'Anime Souls':
