[Update]: Project Resistance has been announced as an asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer game.

Outside of their fighting game division, Capcom has been absolutely spectacular these past few years. Devil May Cry 5 ended up greatly exceeding expectations, Monster Hunter: World was a genuinely impressive step forward and the Iceborne expansion is looking even better, while both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake did much to redeem the series in the eyes of fans, especially after the disappointment that was Resident Evil 6.

As such, I am extremely happy to announce that Capcom will be revealing a brand new Resident Evil game on September 9th! What exactly this game might be, nobody knows just yet, but it's current code name is "Project REsistance."

If you're willing to indulge some rumors, however, then you might also be interested to hear that Project REsistance is potentially a re-imagining of Resident Evil Outbreak. A little bit outlandish of a claim, I'm aware, but the recent leak has given it a fair bit of credibility. As discovered by 5eye-samurai on Reddit, the leaked Youtube thumbnails for Project REsistance do indeed show multiple characters, something the multiplayer-focused Outbreak was famous for.

Whatever the case may be, I'm afraid all we can do is sit and wait for Capcom to do the full announcement on September 9th at 3pm UTC. I can only hope Project REsistance will be just as good, or even better, than Resident Evil 2!
