[Update]: The newest Call of Duty game, Black Ops Cold War, has now been unleashed alongside a surprisingly good singleplayer campaign.

If you're a bit behind schedule like I am, you might be interested to hear that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has recently arrived on both PC and consoles. However, unlike the previous entries in the series, Black Ops 4 does not bring with it a singleplayer campaign. Instead, its focus is quite firmly placed on all sorts of multiplayer modes.

Given that the current craze is Battle Royale games, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that the Blackout mode is exactly that. It doesn't offer anything that truly sets it apart from the rest of the competition, but the gameplay is fast-paced and the gunplay is solid, so it's definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre. If you're not exactly sure where you stand, however, allow me to share one of the recent trailers for the Blackout mode. Have a gander:

Perhaps more importantly, at least as far as my interests are concerned, Black Ops 4 has brought with it a variety of new Zombies maps to explore, mysteries to uncover, power-ups to chug, and naturally, well-dressed zombies to tear apart with medieval weapons. This has been the mode I've spent most of my time with the past few days, and while I do occasionally dabble into Blackout, the Zombies mode has ended up being just the perfect blend of co-op strategy and panicked shooting for me. I honestly can't tell you how much longevity it will have once all of the secrets have been uncovered and all of the storylines explored, but so far it's definitely the highlight of Black Ops 4 for me.

As for the rest of the game modes, they're pretty much your standard Call of Duty fare, though I have to give special mention to the Heist mode as it manages to successfully escape the usual chaos that permeates the 'standard' modes. That said, I never was much a fan of Call of Duty's usual multiplayer, so make sure to take my opinion on it with a few grains of salt.

My little musings aside, you should head on over to the official website to learn more about what Black Ops 4 has to offer. And if you're curious, here are the PC system requirements, just in case. Have fun!
