Overwatch World Cup 2017 official artwork and logo

The Overwatch World Cup is set to begin later today, bringing with it a variety of improvements for spectators, viewers, and players alike. The tournament will showcase the newly added tactical camera, an over-the-shoulder view for insanely fast heroes like Genji and Tracer, unique team uniforms and ability colors, and the list goes on for a while.

So if you're interested in seeing what exactly Blizzard is doing to push Overwatch esports, or if you're just wondering what all of the new skins and abilities will look like, you'll find what you seek in the most recent behind-the-scenes video. Have a look, its quite interesting:

I was initially skeptical about the whole idea of team uniforms as it just meant even more colors flashing all over the screen, but I really must commend Blizzard here, they've managed to make them both tasteful and easy to discern. Its probably going to take a little while for everyone to get used to differently colored abilities, especially for some iconic ones like Dragonblade or Self Destruct, but this is definitely a very positive step for Overwatch esports as it makes it much easier to watch for complete beginners. Not as easy as CS:GO mind you, but still a lot better than what it was a few months ago.

Blizzcon 2017 is going to kick off within an hour, so make sure to head over to the official website and check out both the new announcements and esports improvements. While nothing has been confirmed just yet, chances are pretty damn high Blizzard will reveal a new hero, perhaps even alongside a cinematic short like they've done with Sombra. If so, I really do hope the new hero will be a main healer because we sure could use more of those!
