[Update]: Anthem's Director Jon Warner has now also done a very brief gameplay demo.

Anthem is Bioware's upcoming co-op focused action-RPG that's all about mowing down hordes of enemies, flying around with a jetpack, and as is tradition for the genre, collecting more loot than even Iron Man could possibly carry. In order to accomplish this you'll be able to utilize a variety of unique weapons and abilities, as well as different styles of mech suits, all designed to complement each other and promote the whole co-op angle. It's a simple yet highly effective formula, provided Anthem manages to pull it off anyway.

As for whether it's actually going to do so, that is a difficult question to answer as Bioware's big E3 presentation has not offered much in terms of gameplay details. What Bioware did reveal, however, is more information about the world, the multiplayer, the classes themselves, as well as the end-game. You'll find the developer presentation, as well as the recently posted cinematic trailer, right below. Have a gander:

Like any AAA game, I'll choose to remain cautiously optimistic with Anthem. After all, games like Borderlands and Destiny have shown just how much fun you can have by shooting endless hordes of baddies with friends, so if Anthem ends up being even remotely competent I think it's going to be well worth grabbing. And honestly, after Mass Effect: Andromeda and the whole Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot box fiasco, I'm pretty sure both EA and Bioware are working on ensuring that Anthem does not disappoint.

As for the release date, you can expect to see Anthem on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on February 22nd, 2019 - plenty of time to polish up the gameplay to a mirror sheen. Once more information gets released I'll make sure to let you know, but until then you should head on over to the official website to learn more.
