After the incredibly positive reception of the Battle for Bikini Bottom remaster, THQ Nordic and developer Purple Lamp have now decided to tackle something a bit more ambitious - a completely new game! The freshly announced SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will bring with it seven unique Wishworlds to explore, featuring everything from the Wild West Jellyfish Fields to the Halloween Rock Bottom.

You can also expect to see plenty of new and returning platforming skills to make traversing the strange new landscapes an enjoyable time, a variety of fan-favorite characters voiced by their original actors, as well as 30 new costumes to toy around with. As for the in-game soundtrack, it'll feature 101 songs from the series, including Sweet Victory.

What all of this looks like in actual gameplay, as well as how much things differ from Battle for Bikini Bottom, that you can find out through the trailer below. Have a gander:

No exact release date has been announced just yet, but SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake will be launching "soon" for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch. Once we get an actual date, and ideally another gameplay preview, I'll make sure to let you know.

Until then, you can learn more about SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake over at the official website.
