Batman: Arkham Knight has been confirmed as canceled on Linux and Mac

I genuinely have no idea why WB has such a low opinion of the PC platform. The port of Arkham Knight was an absolute disaster on launch that only got fixed for some configurations. More recently they've announced that the updated version of Mortal Kombat X (which includes much better netcode) will not be coming to the PC.

And now they've also confirmed that the Mac and Linux ports of Arkham Knight, which were announced a long time ago, will not be coming. Thankfully, you can issue a refund if you were affected by this. Here's the short announcement message:

We are very sorry to confirm that Batman: Arkham Knight will no longer be coming to Mac and Linux. If you have pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Knight for Mac or Linux, please apply for a refund via Steam.

You know what's the biggest shame in all of this? Batman: Arkham Knight is not a bad game, not at all! I was one of the lucky few that didn't experience many glitches with it and outside of the stupid bat-tank sections I had a great deal of fun with it.

Unfortunately it seems that many won't get to experience Arkham Knight as WB has already pulled back the developers working on the bug fixes and with the now canceled Mac and Linux ports I have a feeling the issues run too deep to ever fix. What puzzles me about this is that both Shadow of Mordor and the recent Mad Max game were both excellent PC ports, so what on Earth went wrong with Arkham Knight? I'm afraid that's a question we won't get answered for many years to come.

Hopefully next time WB comes out with a shiny new game people will remember this whole mess and consider their pre-orders very carefully.
