[Update]: Ubisoft is working on an Assassin's Creed game set in feudal Japan, and another with a much darker tone.

If you're not the biggest fan of the direction the Assassin's Creed series has taken over the past few years, what with all of focus on action and mythical monsters, you'll be pleased to hear that the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage will be toning things down quite significantly. Heavily inspired by the original game, Assassin's Creed Mirage will have you sneak, stab and parkour your way through the streets of Baghdad as you attempt to complete a variety of (you guessed it) classic assassination missions.

What might come as bit of a surprise, however, is that the main character will be Basim whom you might recognize from Assassin's Creed Valhalla. What his story is about, as well as what sort of tone Assassin's Creed Mirage is going for, that you can get a bit of a sneak peek at through the cinematic trailer below. Have a gander:

I'd love to tell you more about the gameplay, but outside of a few tidbits like your pet eagle having the ability to survey the land and mark your enemies, there's really not much to say. Similarly, no exact release date has been announced just yet, but you can expect Assassin's Creed Mirage to arrive at some point in 2023 for PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Amazon Luna.

Once more information becomes available, ideally alongside a lengtyh gameplay preview, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a little bit more about Assassin's Creed Mirage over at the official website. Enjoy!
