[Update]: Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn's September preview shows off a fun mixture of Souls-like enemies, axes and gunpowder.

A bit over three years have gone by since Ashen first arrived, but Studio A44 has now finally returned with a brand new take on Souls-like action. The freshly announced Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is once again an open-world action-RPG with a heavy focus on combat, though instead of settling for a fairly generic medieval setting, Flintlock is all about guns, magical canine companions and a whole bunch of undead monstrosities.

No actual gameplay has been revealed just yet, but you can get a pretty good idea of the sort of style and atmosphere Flintlock is going for thorough the announcement trailer below. Have a gander:

Similarly, the actual gameplay details are currently few and far between, but what I can tell you is that Flintlock's combat will blend together axe wielding, gunplay, magic and an assortment of powerful combos. Most excitingly of all, one of your main tasks will be to reassemble the Blackstream sappers, a team of crack explosives and weaponry experts, which does promise quite a few lovely booms throughout the campaign!

As for the release platforms, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will be launching onto PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation and Xbox at some point in 2022. It's also worth mentioning that Flintlock will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

Once more information becomes available, ideally alongside a proper gameplay trailer, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a tiny bit more about Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn and its world over at Steam. Enjoy!
