Apex Legends official artwork for the new character Fuse

[Update]: The new Season 8 gameplay preview shows off Fuse and the hefty Kings Canyon changes!

After a whole bunch of teasers, Apex Legends has now finally unveiled the Season 8 update. Once it arrives this February 2nd, Season 8 will bring with it Fuse as an explosive new Legend, the 30-30 Repeater lever-action rifle, a whole bunch of new cosmetic items, and most importantly of all, another Kings Canyon rework!

While there is still no gameplay trailer showcasing all of these things in action, you can get a pretty good idea of what's coming through the most recent animated short. Have a gander, it's a surprisingly dark one:

All I can say after watching that is that I genuinely feel bad for Kings Canyon at this point. The poor map has already been stomped on, demolished and sunk into the sea, and now it's about to get blown to smithereens as well. I can only hope that by the time Respawn is done updating Kings Canyon there will still be a canyon present on the map somewhere!

As for Fuse himself, the details are still few and far between, but it seems like his entire kit will revolve around explosions. So if the animated short is any judge I'm expecting his tactical ability to be a grenade that splits into multiple smaller grenades mid-air, while his ultimate is quite obviously going to be that giant cannon he uses fairly early on. When it comes to the passive ability, this is purely speculation, but I'd say being able to carry extra grenades would be a rather good fit given that he already seems to carry a bunch of them on his shirt.

Whatever the case may be, I'll make sure to let you know once Respawn releases a proper gameplay preview. Until then, you can learn a tiny bit more about Season 8 over at the official website.
