All upcoming CS:GO Majors will feature a 1,000,000 prize pool

Valve might not be the best at communication but when it comes to fostering a community around their games they are absolutely unmatched.

And with the recent announcement that CS:GO Major Championships, starting with MLG Columbus 2016, will have a prize pool of $1,000,000 Valve has ensured that the CS:GO competitive scene will remain vibrant and exciting to watch for many years to come. Here's the full announcement message:

"When we announced the first CS:GO Major Championship in 2013, we hoped the Majors would be rallying points for the community, tent-pole events that could draw new audiences and amplify the value of all events.

Since then, the professional CS:GO community has been growing at an incredible rate. CS:GO tournaments are now among the largest esports events in the world, drawing global audiences of millions of viewers, filling massive venues, and garnering higher prize pools. Professional CS:GO has grown, and the CS:GO Major Championships are about to grow with it.

We’re pleased to announce that beginning with MLG Columbus 2016, each CS:GO Major Championship prize pool will be $1,000,000.

We look forward to another great year of CS:GO competition."

In true Valve fashion they've manage to announce multiple million dollar tournaments with the least amount of communication possible while still getting the message across. Never change guys, never change.

On a more serious note this is a gigantic boost to the CS:GO competitive scene as with large guaranteed prizes many more players will be able to focus entirely on their CS:GO "careers" which means that we, as viewers, will get to see even more ruthless yet entertaining matches between some of the best players in the world.

Either way you look at it this is a great piece of news, for CS:GO and esports in general.
