Age of Empires 3 artwork for the Mexico civilization

[Update]: Following in Age of Empire II's footsteps, Age of Empires III is adding two new civilizations and a brand new 'Tycoon' game mode.

For a series that was sadly ignored for a very long time, Age of Empires has managed to reestablish itself quite nicely over the past couple of years. The new and improved Age of Empires 4 has just launched, Age of Empires 2 is still getting frequent updates, and even Age of Empires 3 is now getting ready for a brand new expansion!

As you might imagine from the title alone, Age of Empires 3's upcoming DLC will add the strategically diverse Mexico civilization. Starting from the Commerce Age, Mexico can choose to Revolt in order to access a whole bunch of new cards, only to later return to Mexico while still retaining access to the benefits granted by any cards selected during the revolution. Combine this with an assortment of Federal States you can advance into when going between the ages, and you'll be able to adapt to pretty much any situation and keep the opponent guessing on what your plans truly are.

Rather than babble on, allow me to share with you the recently posted developer preview. It should give you a pretty good idea of just what Mexico will be capable of. Have a peek:

If all of that sounds like something you'd love to mess around with, you won't have to wait all that long as Mexico will be coming to Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition this December 1st. You can learn a little bit more about it, as well as keep up with any developer updates, over at the Age of Empires website.
