[Update]: Dota 2 has added a new hero called Hoodwink and new abilities for literally everyone!

As it turns out, even Valve's patience has a limit! After watching players shout "つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give DIRETIDE" for about seven years at this point, Valve has now finally brought back the popular Halloween event.

Much like before, Diretide is all about fighting against your fellow players in 5v5 matches, with the sole purpose being to collect as much candy as humanly possible. A truly noble goal, I'm sure you'll agree! The catch is that Roshan is also a fan of candy, so you're going to need to appease him or get rid of your candy if you want to stay alive... or you can just use the distraction and really push the enemy while they're off balance!

When it comes to the story behind the whole event, that you can find out through the newest and rather lovely animated short. Have a gander, it's a pretty fun one:

Most importantly of all, Diretide 2020 brings with it a whole assortment of presents for players to collect. Throughout the Diretide season you can earn Diretide Points by playing regular Dota 2 matches or the new Diretide game mode. Then, once you've collected 100 points, you can use them to obtain one of Roshan's random rewards. There are 75 items on offer in total, and they range from fancy skins to chat emoticons, all of which are appropriately spooky for this Halloween season.
