RuneScape official artwork for the Pieces of Hate quest

While it might not be my cup of tea, I can't help but admire how RuneScape has evolved and grown over the years. In an era where games tend to last a couple of years at best, it truly is impressive to hear that RuneScape has now finally concluded a pirate-themed questline that originally launched in the ancient times of 2005!

In Pieces of Hate, the final part of the storyline, you'll be expected to dive into the depths of the sea in order to uncover treasure, hunt down giant monsters, and naturally, square off against hordes of zombie pirates. Perhaps most importantly, you'll be able to turn the fabled Book o'Piracy into a rum-fueled teleportation machine... because why not!

In order to undertake all of these new challenges you will need 83 Agility, 85 Thieving, 82 Firemaking, and level 81 Construction. You might also want to level up your Fishing to 68 as the update has also added a deep-sea fishing hub. So if you're interested in potentially catching giant jellyfish, great whites, or even bigger creatures that might lurk below the dark sea, you might want to give the new fishing spot a try.

You can learn a little bit more about Pieces of Hate, as well as RuneScape itself, by heading over to the official website. And finally, allow me to leave you with a brief message from the Lead Designer Dave Osborne:

“It’s really astonishing to have reached the end of the pirates’ tale after 13 years, so we’re thrilled that our players can experience the concluding events in Pieces of Hate. The team has worked hard to deliver an exciting end to the story, especially to those waiting since 2005, and we can’t wait to build on it as part of our narrative arcs for the next five years.

The recent launch of deep-sea fishing has already enticed the greatest fishers from across Gielinor to experience the new activity hub; it’s a great way to level up the skill and it’s so rewarding to see our players agree!”
