Absolver official artwork and logo for the Downfall update

[Update]: The Absolver team is now working on Sifu, a singleplayer martial arts roguelike with a bit of a mystical twist!

Absolver is a martial arts RPG with the focus quite firmly placed on melee battles, though with the combat style being a bit of an interesting mixture between an action-RPG and a fighting game. In other words, instead of using predefined skills and combos like you would in your average fighting game, in Absolver you are able to customize your fighter's entire arsenal including combos, blocks, dodges, and the list goes on.

If you're not a massive fan of PvP but you love the idea of this kind of skill-based combat, you might be glad to hear that the new Downfall update has now added a lengthy co-op PvE mode. Each run through the Adalian Mines is procedurally generated and features a variety of newly upgraded enemies, including three large-scale boss fights, so if you're up for smacking around a nearly endless supply of bad guys, this new update has you covered.

Speaking of which, it's also important to mention that Absolver now offers a brand new and Bruce Lee inspired combat style to mess around with - Faejin. The new style is all about fluidly weaving between offense and defense until the opponent makes a mistake, at which point you can pounce and hopefully get the upper hand. Since trying to explain this sort of thing through words alone is nearly impossible, allow me to share with you the recently posted preview. Have a gander:

As you might imagine, an update of this size has also brought with it a ton of bug fixes, balance changes and various quality-of-life tweaks. There are too many for me to cover in brief, so if you're curious you will find the whole list over at the official website. And if you would like to learn more about Absolver, or just grab it while it's still on a discount, you should head on over to Steam. Have fun!
